About Us

I am so glad you are visiting this site.  Thank you for stopping by.  I know how much energy it can take to reach out when we are struggling.  While we’re here, I would like to share a bit more about myself and my background.  I earned my doctorate degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) at Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2014 and my MSW at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana.  My license is in clinical social work.  Combining my psychology and social work training has been very helpful in my preparation for services provided through Lotus Psychotherapy and Consultation Services (Lotus).

I began my interest in working with others as a young adult and have gone from seeing my role as helper to more of a role of partner in supporting other people’s journey. My role as partner in healing, learning, and growth has emerged from lived experiences as well as academic training.

One philosophy I hold dear is that I believe we hurt in relationship and therefore also heal in relationship.  Relationship is key to self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance.  I have seen both internal and external relationships clouded by judgment of self and others, by our ego and our pride, and by gross violations of trust in ourselves and trust violations from others.  I have also seen these violations manifest in punitive measures, corrective behaviors, and short-term solutions to complex lifelong human struggles.  Not only are these responses not sustainable or helpful, but they also often result in increased and devasting mental, physical, and emotional consequences.

I needed to see the world through a different lens.  And so, I searched, through both formal and informal training and experiences.  This search has led me to understand the human condition through eyes of acceptance rather than judgment.  The search led me to growing my understanding of mindfulness and to the creation of Lotus.

I invite you to join me in this search of being and seeing life through the lens of non-judgment and total self-acceptance.  Through the lens of awareness and healing.  Through the lens of relationship with self and with others.
